An original product design project I undertook to create an accessory bag for tiki mug collectors so they can carry their mugs to their local bars.
PROBLEM: Transporting your mug to and from your home without risk of damage.
SOLUTION: Create a method of transport that is functional, compact, and protective in the form of an accessory bag.
RESEARCH: I gathered data of over 2000 tiki mugs in height, length and width to gain an average for what the bag should try to hold. As the bag cannot hold EVERY mug out there, it was imperative that it would hold a good majority of them. Because of this, it was also important that the bag would be adjustable in a way that could accommodate a good range of mugs.
To that end I looked at camping style bags that roll up and down depending on the amount of contents needed to be filled. Applying this function was the key to making this product worthwhile to any collector.
Adding the buckles to create a handle and a pocket for any bar souvenirs completed the product along with a visually appealing logo design that when folded, would still give show off the carrier bag nicely.
The Tiki Traveler bag is currently in production to go to mass market on the west coast as well as direct to consumers via the company website.
